ORADELL NJ— A trip to the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum was on my list of things to do this year ever since I found out that my painting "Through the Shoals" was among the works on tour with the Society of Animal Artists' "55th Art and the Animal" Exhibit. I also had another nice surprise when I found out that my work was selected to be part of the promotion for the show at the Blauvelt.

'Tis the Season
We're already well into the Holiday Season and it's been busy! I wrapped up a nice little pop event on December 5th with D&R's Open House in Princeton, NJ. They were gracious to have some artists on location for that event.
The the following week was active as well with the "Small Works in a Small Town/20th Anniversary" of Artists' Gallery opening on December 10th with an Open House on Saturday December 12th. Notably, "Brr" in his first time show, found a new home. I have four paintings in the small works portion of the gallery, as well as a nice display area with several more paintings, drawings and prints until January 4th. I'm also showing "Fall Flurries" and "Looking at Ewe" for the first time.
I'm also pleased to be part of two more group exhibits currently running: "55th Annual Art of the Animal" Tour (currently at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in Oradell, NJ) and "Animal Nature" at Art Times Two Gallery, Princeton Brain Spine.
I hope to see you at an upcoming art exhibit. (Please see my schedule page on my web-site for updated information).
Best wishes for a Happy New Year!

Looking ahead: Artists' Gallery
LAMBERTVILLE NJ— Artists' Gallery is a unique gallery that is artist-run, and therefore we chose which art to show our "own" wall space. Different work is on display every month, as well as our special featured and group shows in our largest exhibit area.
After a successful September feature with Carol Sanzalone ("Watermarks"), we moved on to different areas of the gallery to show our work. My work is currently in "Salon D" right now and next month I will be in "Salon B". This change makes the gallery constantly new.
Artists' Gallery will present "Small Works in a Small Town" exhibit on December 10 celebrating 20 years, with a group show. All are invited to our OPEN HOUSE scheduled for Saturday December 12, 1pm to 7pm!
I am also excited to be paired with Michael Schweigart for the gallery's first duo featured show of 2016, in April. Plans are already underway!

NYC and Far Hills, NJ
October 14, NYC— Wednesday was an enjoyable day, New Hope Arts graciously organized a bus trip to the Whitney Museum that I was quite happy to join. What a great trip to see a museum with 40 or so artist colleagues! I enjoyed the Whitney's collection as well as the highlighted exhibit of Archibald Motley's work. I confess I did not know much about him, but there is nothing quite like a large body of work to get a great feel for an artist! I came away wanting to know more and was intrigued by his color, composition and subject.
October 15, FAR HIILS, NJ — What a fantastic day to teach a workshop outdoors in the beautiful setting of Leonard J. Buck Gardens! The group (including myself) was only 6 people, but we had a great time. The nature center supplied us with coffee and snacks along with wonderful vistas.
I observed a couple of ruby-crownded kinglets, which only added to the great day—and possibly inspired a future painting.

Last Weekend of "Watermarks"

| "House Hunter" © Beatrice Bork |
Another new painting I've featured in the show is "House Hunter", a carolina wren seeking out a new home, and has landed on a particularly interesting tree with possible potential? I enjoy our local birds as much as any birds I've seen in my travels. Wrens are cute, loud—in a melodious way, and quick.
I've chosen a frame that echoes the tones in the painting and the bird. It has a nice contemporary feel with a rustic finish that I find suits the painting well. Conservation framing with UV protective museum glass.

Steady
![]() |
| "Steady" Watercolor/Gouache Painting by Beatrice Bork |
LAMBERTVILLE NJ— "Watermarks" enters it's second week at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville NJ. I'm pleased that the show has been well received!
One of the paintings in the show is "Steady" a green heron. I have seen these small herons around the pond by my home frequently this summer. They are still, patient, and quiet in their pursuit of fish, frogs, insects etc. Which is one of two reasons why I chose the title "Steady". As with most all my paintings there is another level, a personal reflection within the piece—"Steady" also reflects a way of life, I enjoy being still and quiet and reflective. While it is a wonderfully patterned and colorful bird, it camouflages itself within its environment very well—quiet and still, is not boring.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ— "Watermarks," a duo exhibit I'm having at Artists' Gallery with artist Carol Sanzalone, is up and running. This show features new watercolor paintings by both of us.
The exhibit started on September 10, and our opening reception on September 12th was rainy, but we had a great turn out. Some paintings have already been purchased! The show will remain on view until October 4th, where we will host a "coffee and conversation" end of show event.

55th Annual Society of Animal Artists Exhibit begins today!

August 28: The Grand Opening and Premiere of the Society of Animal Artists Exhibit begins today at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, NY.
I am, unfortunately, not able to attend the opening of what is always a wonderful event! But am most pleased to have my painting "Through the Shoals" selected for inclusion among this prestigious group of international animal artists' work in such a wonderful venue.
This piece represents so much of the last ten years of my life; starting with the Don Eckelberry Award, from the Society of Animal Artists (SAA), sponsoring my first of many visits to Trinidad & Tobago (home and inspiration of these lovely flamingos), to years later, when these same birds took on additional symbolism for me after successful breast cancer treatment — with their pink ribbon-like necks — to the present, having this painting exhibiting with group that started off this emotional, wonderful, crazy, life affirming, ten year roller coaster ride.

Onward!
After the disappointment of our "Art Melange" show being canceled, I've refocused and have been busy getting paintings ready for "Watermarks" a show that opens September 10 at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville. This will be the first showing for quite a bit of new work which I'm looking forward to showing.
I've also shipped two paintings to two different international juried shows which I'm proud of, one for the Artists for Conservation exhibit in Vancouver Canada ("Twist")— the other for the Society of Animal Artists in Jamestown NY ("Through the Shoals").
Beyond that I'm participating in the New Hope Arts member show in New Hope PA, starting August 22nd. A small group exhibit at Princeton Brain Spine, in Princeton, NJ, as well as giving a workshop in October. Then getting ready for the Artists' Gallery Winter exhibit! I have to say I love being this busy and involved with all these wonderful activities. I hope to see you at one or more of these venues. I will be posting more images and information on these and other events soon!
