Last Weekend of "Watermarks"
![]() |
| "House Hunter" © Beatrice Bork |
Another new painting I've featured in the show is "House Hunter", a carolina wren seeking out a new home, and has landed on a particularly interesting tree with possible potential? I enjoy our local birds as much as any birds I've seen in my travels. Wrens are cute, loud—in a melodious way, and quick.
I've chosen a frame that echoes the tones in the painting and the bird. It has a nice contemporary feel with a rustic finish that I find suits the painting well. Conservation framing with UV protective museum glass.

"Watermarks" up and running!
| Part of the "Watermarks" exhibit room |
LAMBERTVILLE, NJ— "Watermarks," a duo exhibit I'm having at Artists' Gallery with artist Carol Sanzalone, is up and running. This show features new watercolor paintings by both of us.
The exhibit started on September 10, and our opening reception on September 12th was rainy, but we had a great turn out. Some paintings have already been purchased! The show will remain on view until October 4th, where we will host a "coffee and conversation" end of show event.

Art Melange focuses on how the elements of abstraction and reality in the natural world merge as conceived by five nationally collected artists who live and work in the Bucks and Hunterdon County area. Artists Beatrice Bork, Paul Grecian and Materese Roche all work in highly realistic styles, yet abstract elements play a vital role in their interpretations; taking their work beyond mere physical representation into a realm that engages the viewer on more intimate and compelling levels. Florence Moonan is a purely abstract artist and provides a dynamic counterpoint. Guenter Bork works in metal jewelry design and his work is influenced by the abstract elements of tribal cultures.

Holidays at Artists' Gallery
Join all of the Artists' Gallery artists (which includes me) for an opening reception on Saturday December 6, 4 to 7pm. This is a great chance to meet with quite a few of our artists and see a gallery full of wonderful work! This exhibit runs through February 1, 2015—in Lambertville, NJ.
I will have a few new works on display including my new series of macaws. "Hi There" 1, 2, and 3. (pictured: "Hi There" #3 is a Military Macaw). These small paintings are part of a few new pieces that I've done exploring a more intimate/close range encounter.
Also displayed at Artists' Gallery this month are my original paintings: "Stalk Walk"-ring-necked pheasant, "Silent Flight"-barn owl, "Red Flyer"-cardinal, "Sun Song"-swamp sparrow, "Red-winged blackbird", "Lovie Dovie"-mourning doves, "Ah Go Ketch She Eye"-violaceous euphonias, "Twist"-white bearded manikin, and "Play Ball"-mixed breed (my dog, Buttons). As always, I will have a selection of my limited edition prints available. To see these and more work, please go to my website: www.BeatriceBork.artspan.com

One could say this piece was the one that really started it all. This watercolor painting, entitled "Kingfisher," was done in High School and was ultimately selected to be displayed at the NJ State Museum in Trenton through the Teen Arts Program back in 1983.

Lambertville gallery logo update.
As many of you know, my work is represented at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ, and I really enjoy showing my work there and being involved in the aspects of running the gallery with my fellow artists.
We have updated the logo—and I'm excited! Artists' Gallery is now over 18 years old, and we decided that it was time that the original logo got a face-lift to better reflect the diverse, high quality of art we have on exhibit. This logo has started appearing at the gallery, website, and on our printed materials—and hope to have all our signage updated soon!

Clifton Arts Center, "In Their Eyes" Art Exhibit
It was a beautiful day to have an opening at the Clifton Arts Center yesterday. The sun was shining and the climate was comfortable, the Art Center is located on lovely grounds which also has some sculpture. The opening was 5- 8pm with refreshments and we even had a pianist playing music. All four of the artists were there for a meet and greet, and as all shows before you know it, the time ended and we made our way home. If you didn't get a chance to swing by, the show is up until July 20th, where we'll also have a closing (info. to come).
I also found out the building we are showing our work in, a nice open space, was also at one time The U.S. Animal Quarantine Station and built in the early 1900s, so our animal art seems to be fitting. I also found a nice little archived article about Clifton in the NYTimes, dated back to 1991, which includes some interesting historical facts, click here for the link.

What's Next?
I was asked a little while ago to give a presentation for the Artsbridge: "Distinguished Artists Series", at the time it seemed so far off and as it's approaching I'm working on pulling it together. I plan to focus on inspiration through process, and hopeful that a good discussion will follow. It takes place on May 16, 7:00 pm at Prallsville Mills, Route 29, Stockton, NJ. For more information, click onto: Artsbridge website.
I'm also looking forward to participating in: "In Their Eyes" a group exhibit, with Maureen Casey, Laurie Harden and Linda Rossin. June 19–July 20th (Reception: Thursday, June 20th 5–7pm). Clifton Arts Center in Clifton NJ.
And, I continuously have art on exhibit at Artists' Gallery, 18 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ. www.LambertvilleArts.com. Hours: Fri/Sat/Sun 11am–6pm, or by appointment.
