Summer into Fall Events

This past Monday I transported my art, and met up with the other artists in "In Their Eye's" animal art show at the Clifton Art Center. We hung around 15 paintings each, the room is now full of a wide variety of species and we're ready for the reception next week, June 20, 5-8pm. There are four artists exhibiting, Laurie Harden, Maureen Casey, and friend and colleague, Linda Rossin, who is also a member of the Society of Animal Artists. It's been quite some time since I exhibited nearby in Wayne, NJ, and am happy to be in exhibiting in the area again. Receptions are always a nice way of meeting new people, and maybe even seeing some people I haven't seen in awhile. The show will run until July 20th.

Those of you with long range schedules, please also note that I have a piece "Waylay in the Mango Tree" juried into a great group exhibit at Grouse Mountain, in Vancouver Canada (Sept. 28-Oct. 6). I'm also very excited for my upcoming duo feature show at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ in October, and have a special one day solo exhibit coming in November. I'll be working on some newer pieces for those, and will post more information as the time approaches.

My work is continuously shown at Artists' Gallery and this month I'm showing "Through the Shoals" for the first time, along with "Lovie Dovie" (mourning doves) —June with all it's weddings seemed like a fine time to show these two "love" birds ;)

After a long year, it feels good to be back.

Dog Days

I was inspired by our furry friends who seemingly are getting a little too much of our summer this year. I'm finishing up the framing for "Dog Days" and will be presenting him this month at Artists' Gallery (18 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ) as well as a few more locally inspired works. Artists' Gallery is a cooperative gallery I'm proud to be a partner of since 2007, we are entirely run by 18 members who are selectively juried by our artists into membership.

Soul Made

The summer is about to begin, and I'll be celebrating it at Soul Made gallery in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. This is a beautiful gallery and artisan shop run by a wonderful down to earth couple with an eye for creative talents.

This is very special to me, as it will be the first time I will be exhibiting my paintings along with my father's hand-engraved totem jewelry. Family and friends have been trying to get my dad to show his creative talents for many years, and we've finally pulled it together!

We delivered paintings and jewelry yesterday, and I'm happy to say the painting "Sounds of Summer" that is featured on the invitation card has already been sold, along with a couple of prints!

The exhibit runs May 22–May 30, with an artist reception on Friday, May 27th, from 4–7 pm. All are welcome!

November and the Meadowhawk

October is winding down and I'm gearing up for an event on Nov. 6th. It will be a "salon" style exhibit for one day only, a more relaxed show, some conversation, some art and some refreshments with some good folks! Here's a piece I'll be bringing to the show, I've also placed more new paintings on my website.

The painting shown was inspired this summer, while I was teaching a workshop at Leonard J. Buck Gardens in Far Hills, NJ. There were several of these red dragonflies flying around and these wonderful pod-like plants by the pond that gave me an other-wordly feel. Intricate, yet simple. Upon further research, I determined these were Autumn Meadowhawks. This info. actually put a smile on my face due to the irony that I'm basically known for being a bird artist (although I do like to paint a variety of different animals).
